Persephone Inspired Graduation Dress

After searching for what felt like days online and on the highstreet for a graduation dress, I decided to put my skills to good use and make my dream outfit on a budget.

The dress was inspired by Persephone, though this is a reflection more of her Kore, Goddess of Spring vibe rather than Queen of the Underworld. I have a continuous love for her as a deity and continue to find and research the different retellings of the Hades and Persephone myth.

I used a nude, beige base fabric to highlight the bright colours and pattern of the beautiful floral mesh overlay, cutting the skirt pieces to include the scalloped edge of the fabric. I then used extra pieces of embroidery and floral appliqué to emphasise the neckline and hem.
